An industrial outdoor paint shop with modern ventilation and air conditioning technology

Having our customer already used up the available covered workspace with further increasing production demand, the existing paint shop had to be expanded with large spray paint booths for locomotives and passenger carriages linked up with the existing rail system in the outdoor area. Every paint booth had to be equipped with high-performance ventilation units, one of them with modern air-conditioning technology.
Solution
The paint shop system consists of four industrial XL Space spray booths that are physically installed outside and adjacent to the existing production facility. The booths are protected via a custom-built roof structure. They are certified as fireproof and build with double insulation panels because of the low outside temperatures. The booths are “drive through” with rails, the airflow is semi down draught with roof input and side wall extraction.
The efficient high-performance thermal ventilating units allow optimized energy consumption thanks to the air to air heat exchangers. Homogeneous temperature and appropriate airflow and air exchange is guaranteed in the entire booth. HVAC systems heat the air in winter and cool it in summer, thus creating optimal conditions for the production process and the well-being of the operator.
Industrial automation is leveraged linking the customer’s ERP and logistics system to the PLC unit of the paint shop. All painting phases and lots are precisely controlled, which maximizes the automation of the manufacturing processes, manages the painting and drying parameters of the paints, keeping the energy consumption low.
The installation includes side wall paint lift platforms for industrial painting and automatic roll-doors tailored to customer requirements.
