How to keep the filtration system in Blowtherm spray booths efficient
Blowtherm filters are designed to provide a clean working environment and ensure optimal air quality during the painting process.
They can be of two categories depending on the type of air being treated: intake air filters and exhaust air filters.
Intake filters (pocket prefilters and ceiling filters) ensure that the air in the booth is always free of dust particles that cause painting defects.
Exhaust filters:
- paint stop filters and pocket post filters have the function of cleaning the air by retaining solid particulate matter, limiting pollutant emissions to the surrounding environment;
- paint stop and activated carbon filters have the function of cleaning the air by retaining solid particulate matter and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and then releasing them into the atmosphere, helping to limit pollutant emissions into the surrounding environment and reduce odors.
Blowtherm Filters
Blowtherm’s filtration system consists of several stages of filtration, each of which performs a specific function.

1 Pocket prefilters
They are installed in suction, inside the thermoventilation unit. ISO coarse filtration class 60% (ISO 16890).
2 High efficiency plenum filters
They are installed in the filter plenum of the spray booth and provide to stop dust particles that have not yet been blocked by the previous prefiltering stage. ISO ePM10 55% filtration class (ISO 16890).
3 Paint stop filters
Paint stop fiberglass filters, laid under the grids, are intended to stop the solid part of the paint. ISO coarse 50% filtration class (ISO 16890).
4 Pocked post-filters
They are installed in exhaust, inside the thermoventilation unit. ISO coarse filtration class 60% (ISO 16890)
5 Activated charcoal filters
The last stage involves toroidal or panel activated carbon cartridges specially designed to absorb the part of the solvent still nebulized in the spray as well as the solvent odors emitted into the atmosphere. The activated carbon air purifier is optimal when installed in addition to the traditional filtration system to have a more ecological impact and to have a high quality of the surrounding air.
The filtering system of the booths and preparation stations are designed to ensure a constant and uniform air flow, which ensures maximum efficiency of the painting process. In addition, the filters are easily accessible and replaceable, which simplifies maintenance and ensures longer system life as well as superior quality.
