Tunnel for final inspection and assembly fully integrated in an automated line and workflow
The reference project regards the final assembly area, in which the filling processes and the final inspection of wheel loaders are carried out in a large production plant.
Request
The planning and construction of a drive-through solution for filling with engine fluids, commissioning and final acceptance testing of the vehicles in the terminal work area of the assembly line were requested. The vehicles move continuously via a floor conveyor system and all work steps must be timed.
In addition, emissions from commissioning tests should be reduced using modern environmental technologies. A regulation compliant ventilation with air extraction, filtration and supply of fresh air to the work area was the requirement.
Solution
Thanks to our technical expertise, we have developed an intelligent and economical solution. With the solid, modular structure of the Space-Large Equipment Booth, an almost 50-meter-long tunnel was created, which was seamlessly integrated into the existing assembly and final inspection system and enables the vehicles to move along with the automatic material handling equipment.
The exhaust gases generated by the test are extracted via three high-performance industrial extraction units installed on the roof, which generate a uniform Make-Up-Air flowing from bottom to top. Better air for the environment and improved indoor air quality regarding exhaust fumes to ensure occupational safety.
Since the roof was not accessible by crane or other means, we positioned the three extraction systems with a helicopter. The installation took less than an hour.
